2018-2019 Home and School Association Minutes

HOME & SCHOOL BOARD MEETING – September 14, 2018

The new format for the afternoon car line is going very well. The students are getting out earlier than they were last year.

Bernadette Dougherty, the new Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the
Archdiocese will be visiting the school.

We are one of only 3 schools in the Archdiocese that achieved greater than one year's growth on the most recent Terra Nova testing.

On October 8 the faculty will be attending a professional development session to
learn how to apply the principles of differentiation in their classrooms.

Mrs. DiPrinzio is offering after school sessions for 8th grade students to prepare for the high school entrance exams.

The paver project to purchase bricks around the new Mary statue will kick off in
October and will replace an annual appeal for the school. The money raised will go
towards a new “Study Center” for the students.

Volunteer numbers have greatly increased from last year, which is very much
appreciated by the Home and School!

CCS Bellabandz Headbands will be sold as a fundraiser for $12 in 2 styles; one to
match the plaid school uniform and one with a CC in red and black. Sale dates will be announced soon.

Home and School will sell Philly Swirl Pops once a month in the cafeteria. Order
forms have gone home in the Wednesday Envelope.

Unfortunately the PreK/Kindergarten Social was canceled due to rain and will not be rescheduled. The popsicles purchased for the event will be given out to the PreK and kindergarten kids.

Trunk or Treat will have the Dog Bites hot dog cart and also an area set up with kids’ games.

Treasurer’s Report: The checking and savings accounts have been merged. The
current account balance is about $36,000.

The next H&S Board meeting will be October 12 at 10am.

HOME & SCHOOL BOARD MEETING – August 17, 2018

The school directory will be formatted using MSP this year.  Home & School is taking back the duty of putting together the directory and there is a committee in place.

Parish Business Manager Edd Murphy will be retiring in December.

Volunteer Policy: In anticipation of questions from parents about the new volunteer policy, the Board asked Mrs. Lafferty what the “opt out” money will go towards.  The money will fund “enhancements to the school”, possibly more Chromebooks.

Volunteer Policy - Tracking: It will be the responsibility of the committee chairs to track who volunteers for the events.  It was also decided that working bingo will count for the volunteer requirement.

The next Home &School Board meeting will be September 14 at 10am.
